Hi everyone!
I just finished writing chapter one of my middle-grade sci fi novel, ASTRO ACADEMY.
Some books I write, they take a while to grow on me.
And then there are some books that I start writing and I go, "oh, this one is VERY special."
Astro Academy is definitely one of them. (Ghoul School was, too.)
I think children's fiction is very magical because children are natural storytellers and believers in fairy tales and happily ever afters. (Adults lose that optimism, unfortunately.)
I love that new story feeling where the idea hits you. It's like time stops when the story comes together in your mind.
It's pure bliss writing chapter one. The possibilities, the hopes, the dreams...it's all right there in front of you.
It feels like winning the lottery.
It feels like falling in love.
It feels like walking on air.
Can't wait to finish this one and send it to my agent. Writing is hard work, but it's also fun.
And that fun makes it all worth it. I only hope people will enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.
Thanks for reading!
Dana
