Hi everyone!
Back on Monday, I finished the first draft of my children's fantasy novel, GHOUL SCHOOL. It still has a few rounds of editing to go -- then I need to plan out its five sequels -- but it's finished! This is my favorite part of the process. I find editing much less stressful than writing the first draft. All the words are on the page -- now all you have to do is polish it and work out the kinks.
For the past few days, I've been enjoying a mini-break playing video games and reading. I've also been plotting out my next novel...
THE TIME TRAVEL AGENCY!
Much like Ghoul School, it is the first novel in the Time Travel Agency series. As a big fan of Star Trek and time travel, I'm super excited to incorporate all I know in a children's sci-fi book!
Here's a little blurb so far:
"In the future where time traveling into the past is possible, it must only be used for educational purposes or vacation. You must also be accompanied by a time travel tour guide and a Temporalologist (a word I invented meaning a scientist dedicated to the mechanics of time travel).
Twelve-year-old Nina Lang is excited for her first trip into the past to study ancient history accompanied by her favourite history teacher, Mr. Harvey, and her best friends in the seventh grade. But their trip is turned upside down when Dr. Michelle Zu — an evil scientist who once tried to steal time travel technology and hijack the past — returns to cause mayhem once more. Nina and her friends must find out what Dr. Zu’s plan is, prevent her from altering the past, and ace their ancient history test."
Fun fact: besides English, my best subject in school was history. Since I couldn’t choose my favourite ancient era — Egypt, Greece, Rome, or Japan — I decided to include them all! (I might include the Vikings as well.) Each book will feature a different time period and more of Dr. Zu’s evil schemes.
The time periods I have planned out for the six books are:
-Ancient Times (Book 1)
-Renaissance/Middle Ages (Book 2)
-Wild West/Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (Book 3)
-Industrial Revolution (Book 4)
-War of 1812, WW1, WW2, and war in general (Book 5)
-The Far Future (Book 6, where Dr. Zu finds a way to travel forward)
While I start the first draft this weekend, I'll also be:
-Editing the fourth (and hopefully last!) draft of the second book in the Jessica Prince series
-Editing the second draft of my YA vampire novel, KINGDOM OF V
-Catching up on my reading
Suffice to say, I'll be busy! What is everyone else doing to stay sane during the quarantine?
As always, thanks for reading and stay safe out there. Remember -- please time travel responsibly!
