It's true!
As of this morning, my fabulous agent has put my young adult mystery novel, JESSICA PRINCE AND THE CRIMSON CAPER, on submission. What does that mean?
It's just a fancy way of saying she's submitting my novel to editors at different publishing houses. She approaches them much like how I approached her -- with a query letter and an invitation to read the full manuscript. With luck, an editor (or several!) will request to read it.
While I'm over the moon, I'm also nervous.
What if editors don't like it? That's the big fear. It takes 3 to 4 months to hear anything back, which means these next few months will be VERY stressful.
But no matter what happens, I know a few things are certain: I loved writing Jessica Prince. I had so much fun on it, and I sincerely hope I get to continue the series. I don't regret the time I spent writing it at all.
Fingers crossed it'll hook an editor! Please think positive thoughts for me. Let's hope my book finds a good home soon! I can't wait to share this story with the world and for everyone to meet Jessica, a mix of Nancy Drew, Jessica Fletcher, and Elle Woods.
Me right now, in case you were wondering:
So I'll probably be a nervous wreck from now on. While I wait, I plan to keep writing and reading as I can't imagine doing anything else with my time. Hopefully when I blog about this book next, I'll have some *very* good news to share.
Until then!
Dana
